Newmarket is a division in both Hampton and in Newport News. This division is furthest corner in Hampton and runs into Newport News. The area is was known for the formal Newmarket north mall today the NETcenter. The area includes a housing neighborhood and an apartment complex. The area was formed in the 1960s during the time when Hampton was Elizabeth City County this area was once farms and plantations after the merge with Hampton and the expansion of Military Highway or Mercury Boulevard. this section boomed with a neighborhood and a mall. the mall stayed open until 2003 the government bought the building.
